We all want to know how much we move don’t we?
But do you also want to know how active your friends are? Well, i do!
And that’s the idea behind the app ‘Bouncers’. This app is developed by researchers of the Technical university Eindhoven, in collaboration with ‘De ondernemende huisarts’ (DOH) and is launched on Monday the 16th of september 2013.
Because of the social side of the app, users are more aware of how much they move and motivate eachother to work on a more active lifestyle.
The app is for everyone with an android-phone available for free.
The principle of the app is simple: on the background of your phone screen you see moving cirkels, which show your physical activity and the activity of your friends. The more someone moves, the faster his ring bounces across the screen. So you can compare your own lifestyle to those of your friends.
Acording to Caroline Hummels, professor at the technical university Eindhoven, and one of the researchers behind the app, it’s the link with the friends which makes users aware of their personal body movement. The app also increases the social bond within the circle of friends. Just like if you join a sportsclub. An other nice detail: the researchers have also managed to keep the energy consumption of their app very low, to save as much as possible of the battery of your phone.
This app is fun, can help with weight loss and has a social character which is an example of how the social web is getting more and more important in people’s everyday life.

This new app called ‘Nutrition quiz’ from Runtastic is an app which is about short food-tests. This tests are not only designed to check your knowledge about food and nutrition but specially to improve it!
Very interesting and educational, and you’’ll get to know a lot more about nutrition and health.
I am very interested in healty food, so to me this is a very funny way to learn about it.
It has future growth potential because people are more and more busy with making their lifestyle a healty one.
The influence of the social web is also growing, with this app you train good behavior by using a game, this development is called gamification.
This app is like a combination of these 2 factors which are becoming more important to people these days. It is proved that 19% of the people who own a smartphone use at least one app about health nowadays instead of 5% 2 years ago.

The new Moves-app shows you how active you really are. He counts your steps and saves your activity’s. Moves gets his data from the built-in sensors of the smartphone. This app is already installed on more than 2,5 million iphones.
So it’s already popular. Only iphone-users could use it before, but this app is now ready to make the switch to android. The nice thing about this app is that it is positive about your sportive actions but isn’t going to whine if you decide to stay on the couch for a day.
So it’s very motivational for people to get up and move more, which is very important nowadays. Because there are so many people who suffer from being overweight.
I think this app could help them in a friendly way.
